Dear ,

If I haven’t managed to say it yet, happy new year! I hope your 2019 has started well.

We’ve been busy building new features and adding to Nucleus, and I’m pleased to be able to take you through them.

Some key additions in these notes are some big advancements in how you can monitor your viewers’ scoring, added keyboard shortcuts and improved the attachment downloader.

Let me know if you have any feedback or thoughts by sending me an email.

All the best,

Benedict Rolfe
Product Manager

New Features & Improvements
New features and enhanced functionality that we’ve added to Nucleus.

Viewers
View entry attachments in browser
In the Viewer site, Viewers are now able to open an entry’s PDF attachments in browser as a new tab rather than download each file. The ‘Download’ button will change to ‘View’ . If desired, the Viewer can still download the PDFs in the viewing tab.

This feature needs to be turned on by our developers, so if you would like to use it on your site then please let us know.

Submit scores and reporting
Admin users are now able to require scores and comments to be submitted by viewers for specified awards, meaning that the status of voting progress can be monitored.

To enable this for an award, there is a new option in the Viewing section of an Award’s settings called ‘Require scores & comments to be submitted’. Setting this to Yes will reveal four text areas for messages to display to viewers at the top of their dashboard based on the status of their scoring and comments.

These messages will at the top of the categories the viewer has been assigned.
Once all a viewer’s scoring and comments have been saved, the Submit button will appear with the ‘Please submit scores message’ text.

These messages will at the top of the categories the viewer has been assigned.Admins will be able to monitor the status of scoring of an award by going to the Viewer List and filtering the Award(s) column by the desired award. This will then show two additional columns displaying the Score/comment status and the percentage of completion. Both of these columns can be filtered to show the viewers of a particular status or above/below a certain completion percentage, and then this can be downloaded as a file.

Filter the Viewer List by the required awardSegmented reports can also be downloaded from the Viewer Score Download option the in Misc menu. After selecting an award that requires scores and comments to be submitted, three Score statuses will appear allowing you to pull any combination of In progress, Awaiting submission and Submitted scores and comments.

You can email your viewers depending on their scoring status, enabling you to remind those that have yet to finish or submit their scores. This is added to the Entrant Mailout feature, when you select Viewers as the type of user to email.

Categories & Eligibility

Category Internal Names
Categories now have an additional field for internal names, like Awards, giving you the option to label categories internally for your administrative purposes.

Category Eligibility rules moved to the Categories page
To make navigation easier, we have moved the category eligibility rules into the Category list page so that everything is in one place.

Entry Management

Restore Deleted Entries
Deleted entries can be searched for using the Jump functionality, when a deleted entry is found there is a clear message stating that it was deleted, by whom and when. It also allows the admin to restore the entry is necessary.

Entrant’s phone in entry summary
An entrant’s primary telephone number is now included in the award summary at the top of an entry’s form.

Attachment Download

Admins can now download files from specified questions from a given award. This is found in the ‘Entry Attachments Download’ function in the Misc section.

This saves you time as it allows you to only pull the files uploaded for one question rather than every file uploaded to all the upload questions for every entry.

System Navigation

New Awards automatically assigned
When you create a new Award, it is now automatically assigned to your admin user.

Keyboard shortcuts
We’ve added keyboard shortcuts to Nucleus to help your improve your workflow.

On any page in the admin area:Alt + E => Entry list pageAlt + A => Award list pageAlt + C => Category list pageAlt + V => Video list pageAlt + I => Invoice list pageAlt + Q => Question list pageAlt + O => Organisation list pageAlt + U => User list pageOn any editing page:Ctrl+S on Save (and stay on this page)Alt+S for Save and closeEsc for ‘Back’Editing pages will now bring up an ‘Are You Sure?’ prompt if you try to leave without saving a change you have made. This will happen whether you use the mouse to click out or use the Escape key.

Users
Video download and sharing options
When a user is creating a new video record, the ‘Allow download’ and ‘Allow sharing’ options now default to ‘Please Select…’ and are a mandatory fields. There is a new helper text under the ‘Allow download’ option that can be controlled from the CMS to inform users what the option means.

Dear ,

New Features and Improvements
New features and enhanced functionality that we’ve added to Nucleus.

Question List & Questions
Bulk Actions for Question List
You can now perform bulk actions for questions in the Question List. You will be able to Delete, Copy or Move a specified range of questions.

Email Management
‘On Hold’ Emails
You can now choose the initial state of an email when it is added to the queue: ‘New’ (the default) or ‘On Hold’. Setting an email to ‘On Hold’ will allow you to queue system generated emails, such as Welcome emails when creating Viewers, and control when they are sent manually.

This is done when editing an email template, in the new ‘Add emails to queue in this state’ option.

New – this is how emails have previously worked. Setting to this will add any email sent using this template to the email queue and will be sent automatically. This is the default setting. On Hold – this will add an email sent using this template to the queue, but it will not send until released manually.’On Hold’ emails will be added to the email log/queue in a section at the top of the list and will be held without sending until manually released.
To release a single email, go to the email in the queue and click on ‘Details’. This will show allow you to click ‘Release’ to immediately add the email to the live sending queue.

To release a batch of emails in bulk, filter the email log/queue and the bulk options will appear at the top of the right column.

Delivery Priority
Each email template, including per award specific template, can now have a delivery priority set of ‘Low’, ‘Medium’ or ‘High’. This means that high priority emails will jump to the top of the queue and be sent ahead of lower priority emails.

The main scenario for a high priority is ‘Forgotten Password’ emails for users and viewers as it is important to get them to the individual quickly. You can amend the priority of an individual email in the queue before it is sent in the ‘Details’ section in the email log/queue.

Email Template Header/Footer
The ‘Include standard header and footer?’ option in new Email Templates now defaults to ‘Please Select…’ and requires a value before the template can be saved. This gives you control over template’s design without the header/footer being missed and defaulting to the incorrect option.

Viewers
Floating Save Buttons
When reviewing entries on the viewing site, additional Save and Save & Close buttons are added to the top right and will float with the page as the Viewer scrolls.

This means the Viewer no longer has to scroll to the bottom of the page to save their scores and/or comments.

Bug Fixes
We’ve squashed a few bugs to make Nucleus better
Fixed an issue that meant Users could sometimes submit a form before a video had been uploaded to a mandatory ‘Video’ type question.
Fixed an issue where some links in the VideoUploadList would navigate to a obsolete URL, links replaced with status messages.
Fixed an issue that stopped the resubmit button working for admins.

Super-Fast Video Processing

An industry first, Super-Fast Video Processing dramatically speeds up the labour-intensive transcoding stage of all video content submissions – reducing the time taken to transcode a file of feature-length HD footage into a stream-friendly format for judging from 1 hour to as little as 5 minutes. This is achieved by Nucleus now transcoding all jobs simultaneously rather than processing in a queue. The transcoding queue remains a feature of all other awards platforms.

The net effect will make your submission process much quicker for entrants. Not only will it encourage a higher quality and greater quantity of entries but it also eliminates transcoding queues at a stroke. Transcoding delays are the biggest source of submission gripes from entrants, and account for a considerable portion of Support Tickets from organisers like yourselves – so Super-Fast Video Processing will eliminate a lot of pain for all involved.

We will be in contact to confirm when this feature will be available on your instance.

This vital addition will enable Admins to identify any particular Categories that are lagging behind in entries, and possibly utilise the Entrant Mailout functionality to isolate and encourage completed submissions from those that are currently unsubmitted.

VIEWING PROCESSES

Viewing Portal Intro Text options
This is the intro text which appears in each Category in the Viewing site – which was previously infringing on the content viewing pane and inconveniencing Viewers, especially if the intro text was quite lengthy. To enable you to manage this, we have now added a new option in the Categories section where you enter this text.If you look there now you will see there are now two options, where there was previously just one:Viewing portal intro (full)Viewing portal intro (floated summary)

Viewing portal intro (full) – is the section to enter your full length intro. This can be as long as you require, but once you scroll to the bottom of it your content viewing pane will become the priority area of the screen and give you the maximum available space to view the content. If you need to view the full intro again once you have got the the content viewing pane, simply scroll back up to the top of the page.
Viewing portal intro (floated summary) – this section now acts in the same way as the previous intro text did ie. it will be the dominant area of the screen and will display in full at all times even as you scroll down to the content viewing pane. Although the ‘full’ option above will remove the infringement issue, you may also find some use of the floated summary too. For example, if you have a very short piece of must-see-at-all-times text or instruction you want the viewer to be aware of as they are scrolling through the content ie. PLEASE VIEW AND SCORE ALL ENTRIES BEFORE SUBMITTING, OTHERWISE YOUR VOTES WILL NOT BE COUNTED. The key is to keep this Floated Summary brief (1-2 lines max), if you choose to use it at all. Think of it as a ‘reminder’ to summarise the info given at length in the Full intro.

Viewer Score Download Total column
The Viewer Score Download functionality (where you export all of your Viewer scores into a spreadsheet) now has a tally functionality where it automatically adds together all of the submitted scores for an entry into a column marked Total, allowing for ease of comparison between entries.

Add Questions to the Viewer Score Download
You can now customise the Viewer Score Download report to include the answer to any question on your form, in addition to the default info and scoring/commenting info. This is controlled by a new option on the Question settings. To activate it for any question:
-Go to Actions > Question List-Find the required question, and click Actions > Edit
-On the Question edit page, scroll down to the Options section and in the field Title for viewer score download enter the title you want to appear as a column header on the report
-Click Save and Close

Disable email templates without removing the Subject line
Previously the only way to disable an email that is hard-coded to be automatically triggered by a specific action – for example, the entry/Approve template being triggered by an entry being Approved – is to pre-emptively delete the Subject line for that template. This was a reliable method, but also a little inconvenient if you wanted to use that email template again in future with the same Subject – as it required you to keep a note of it.We have now added a dedicated ‘Enabled’ option in each email template.
New Features and Improvements
New features and enhanced functionality that we’ve added to Nucleus:

Pagination option to divide your Entry form
You now have the option to ‘paginate’ your entry form – that is to divide it into multiple pages. This choice may come in useful for forms that are particularly lengthy, or if you prefer to split the form into suitable sections – for example, dividing the eligibility sections from the questions and the terms and conditions etc.

This Pagination functionality is created by a new type of ‘Divider’. To utilise it:

-Go to Actions > Question List
– Add a new Question
-In the new Question, select the Type as ‘Divider’
-Under Question Parameters, for Divider Type select ‘Pagination’
-Save & Close

NB: If you would like to use the Pagination option there is one exception: assuming your 1st question is a Divider (as we recommend), then for that one you should select ‘Normal’ as the Divider Type, because as the 1st question on your form it is already the start of a new page.

Instead general eligibility for this award can be managed by use of relevant Question types such as ‘Date’, and Dependencies within key Questions.

You can lock this setting – for example, to prevent Categories being created in error – by going to:

-Actions > Awards
-On your chosen Award, click Actions > Edit
-Scroll down to the Options section, and for ‘Award has categories?’ select ‘No’.

New Finance Reporting Fields added to the Awards set-up page
Several new Finance Reporting Fields have been added to the Finance section of the Awards set-up page. These are:
Company codeClassification codeAlphanumeric fields
These fields have all been added to the filters on the invoice export page and the finance export – so can be used for reporting purposes on the finance reports.
