How to Launch your Award

This guide details the full process of launching an Award/project and refers to other guides that explain specific functionality in more detail. If you are using Nucleus for the first time as an Admin, you can follow these core instructions to set up a new project from scratch.

This article will take you through the basic process of setting up an Award, from the initial settings to building the Entry Form and setting up Categories, to testing your Award before it opens. There is no limit to the number of projects that you can build in Nucleus.

Depending on your requirements, these are the most important stages to follow to create a new Award project:

  1. Create a New Award
  2. Set up your Award Preferences
  3. Create an Entry Form
  4. Create Categories
  5. Set up Payment (optional)
  6. Set up the Viewing Interface (optional)
  7. Set up Emails
  8. Create other Admin Users
  9. Check the Design is Updated
  10. Check the CMS
  11. Test your Award

Building a New Form

Now that your main settings have been set, you can start building an entry form using the question list. This guide explains how to do it.

Creating Categories

For an entry to be submitted into a Category on the Entry Form, you need to set specific rules which can place the entries into that Category. Here is the standard workflow for creating Eligibility Criteria rules for Automatic Categories.

Setting up Emails

Nucleus is issued with a series of automatically-generated email templates that are triggered by certain user actions (such as submitting an entry, or requesting a new password) and admin actions (such as creating judges). When creating a new award, check the default wording of these templates and edit them as you require.

Creating other Admin Users

Creating admin users in Nucleus is quick and can be actioned by any other administration users. There are no restrictions on the number of admin users that can be created and given access to the system. We recommend keeping the list tidy and deleting users who no longer require access to the system. Please review this article.

Checking the Design

A core feature of the Nucleus is the flexibility provided to Admin Users in the application of the design. Admin users can update and change the colours, logos and Favicons at any time and the changes are immediately applied to the site.

Checking the CMS

When BAFTA Nucleus is first delivered all the CMS fields feature default text which can then be updated to suit the relevant audience for the instance. When setting up a new project, Admin user should take some time to navigate through the Entrant Interface and Viewer Interface to check the wording that suits your audience’s needs and update as required.

Testing your Award

It is important that admin users take time to thoroughly test awards before opening for entry. Awards are best tested via the entrant interface but opening the award to create test entries introduces the risk that an entrant may find the form and try to enter prematurely.
