How to Use Multipart Questions

Multipart Questions are used by admin users where there is a requirement to display several questions on the same horizontal line on the entry form, such as personal contact details. This is helpful especially when you are requesting different metadata items referring to the same person such as Name, Email, Job Title, Address as it helps to reduce the length of the form and reduces scrolling.

How to Set Up Multipart Questions

  1. Log into the Admin Interface
  2. Go to Actions>Question List
  3. Click Add to create a new question
  4. Set a unique internal question in the Name section as normal
  5. Select Multipart from the Type dropdown
  6. Choose the Position on the form where the question should appear. This type of Question cannot be used as the last question on the form
  7. Type a Question title to appear on the entry form
  8. In the How many Subsequent Questions section, enter the number of questions you wish to display after your Multipart Question
  9. Click Save & Close
  10. Click on the Add button and create as many Subsequent Questions as you just decided to enter. eg. if you entered 2 as a number, you will have to create 2 new questions. Please note that the form will break if the required number of questions are not supplied
  11. Once created, the subsequent questions will appear on your Question List highlighted in Purple right after your Multipart Question
  12. Click Save & Close
  13. On the entry form, the questions you set will now display horizontally

Note

  1. Not all the types of questions can work with the Multipart. Please note that you cannot use these as Subsequent Questions: Commentary, Divider, Export, Form Owner Administration, Media Library Item.
  2. Help text for Subsequent Questions will not show. If you need to display it, it has to be added in the Multipart Question.
  3. Please notice that assets in the Question List are colour-coded:
    • Subsequent Questions (after a Multipart Question) always appear in Purple
    • Internal Questions appear in Grey
    • Error appears in Red text
